Oia is a self-initiated brand study exploring how marine science and Atlantic materiality can converge into a contemporary care identity.

Year | 2025 |
Conceived as a unified system for skin and hair, the project investigates how honest formulas and quiet daily rituals can shape a new kind of minimal, algae-driven beauty brand.
Rather than treating marine extracts as a marketing gesture, the exploration focused on their genuine biological benefits for both skin and scalp. Three families of Atlantic algae—Laminaria, Palmaria and Lithothamnion—became the structural backbone for product performance across cleansing, treatment and nourishment.
Visually, Oia was shaped through a dialogue between editorial sensibility and scientific clarity. The direction combined film-like portraiture, macro algae studies and clean product renderings in frosted glass. Winter light, mineral palettes and soft textures set a calm, composed environment—equally suited to skincare and haircare narratives.
The packaging system follows a rigorous simplicity: modular labels, matter-of-fact descriptions, and a restrained typographic voice. Each product reads like a clinical note—precise, quiet and intentionally understated. This functional honesty became central to defining Oia’s character.
Outcome includes a complete visual universe: product collection (skin + hair), lifestyle photography, ingredient sheets and a cohesive brand narrative rooted in the Atlantic coast of Galicia. Together, they outline a speculative yet fully resolved representation of what a modern marine-based care brand could be.
